Kulanu
Our aim is to ignite in children and their families both a deep commitment to—and real excitement for—Jewish life and learning. We guide them to appreciate our rich history and traditions, while empowering them to actively shape a present-day Jewish journey rooted in values based living. At Kulanu, we cultivate an environment where students grow to love our sacred tradition, and are encouraged to ask the bold questions our heritage invites. Above all, we want every child and family in Kulanu to be challenged, uplifted, and energized by the enduring power of Jewish ideas and practice.
We believe that Jewish learning and living never feels like “school.” Yes, we offer a thoughtful curriculum and experienced educators, and yes, we care about discovery and growth—but we deliberately stop short of rehearsing facts or racing through grade levels. Instead, we’re all about identity-building: igniting genuine enthusiasm for Jewish life and nurturing a lifelong bond with our people. Study after study shows that the most transformative Jewish experiences happen beyond traditional classroom learning. The less we resemble a typical “religious school,” the more we succeed at cultivating connection, curiosity, and commitment.
At the same time, Jewish education isn’t confined to the “religious” sphere. Judaism is also a culture, a people, a shared history, and a way of seeing the world. Our goal is to provide multiple entry points—spiritual, cultural, intellectual—so every child can find their own place in the chain of tradition. While we explore sacred texts, experiment with prayer, and discuss ethical teachings, calling what we do simply “Religious School” undersells its scope. We’re not just teaching religion; we’re opening doors to community, belonging, and a sense of pride in being Jewish.
