Giving Opportunities
We invite you to explore our full list of Temple funds and endowments below. Each one offers a unique way to support the areas of synagogue life that are most meaningful to you.
Temple Funds
General Fund: Used to pay operating expenses and salaries.
Building Fund: Used for building maintence, renovations and capital improvements.
Cantor Sharon Kunitz Memorial Music Fund: Used to support our choir and musically enrich worship.
Huntsville Jewish Heritage Center: Used for the maintenance and improvement of the Heritage Center and historic elements of the Temple.
Library Fund: Used to purchase books, materials, and equipment needed for the library.
Tree of Life Fund: Leaves are available to celebrate joyous Jewish life cycle events for $200 for a standard and $500 for a raised leaf. Donations go into the General Fund.
Honor Board Fund: Plaques serve as a permanent visual marker to honor deserving people for $200 for a standard and $500 for a raised plaque. Donations go into the General Fund.
Memorial Board Fund: Plaques serve as a permanent visual marker to memorialize a loved one and are available for $500 each. A reserved plaque is $150. Donations go into the General Fund.
Rabbi’s Discretionary Fund: Donations are used at the Rabbi’s discretion for various needs to support our congregation and our community.
Kulanu Fund: Used to support children’s educational programing.
Security Fund: Used to pay for professional security personnel to be present during Temple events and to upgrade and maintain security systems.
Temple Endowment Funds
General Endowment Fund: Used to supplement the annual budget. A Silver Endowed membership ($25,000) entitles a member to 50% reduction in dues and assessments. A Golden Endowed membership ($40,000) releases a member from dues or assessments.
Goldsmith Endowment Fund: Used for educational and cultural programming and other special needs.
Lawrence Goldsmith Cemetery Maintenance Fund: Used to repair and maintain grave sites of former members of the Temple buried in Maple Hill Cemetery, funding the payment of repairs and maintenance not performed by the City of Huntsville.
Margaret Anne Goldsmith Endowment Fund: Used to supplement the operating expenses of the Temple.
Temple B’nai Sholom Endowed Children’s Educational Fund: Used to support children’s educational programming for the youth of the Temple
